The final selection of startups to represent Ukraine at CES 2019 took place on 11th of October at UNIT.City. Six companies, who will go to Las Vegas, were selected by a team of Ukrainian and foreign experts and investors. The exhibition will be held on January 8-11, 2019 in Las Vegas.
UA Tech is a joint initiative of the Ukrainian Venture Capital and Private Equity Association (UVCA), Western NIS Enterprise Fund (WNISEF) and Concepter. UA TECH was established to introduce the capability of Ukrainian Tech products to the global market.
Consumer Electronic Show (CES) is the largest tech show in the world, taking place each year in Las Vegas, gathering around 180 000 visitors from all the world at the space equivalent of 35 football fields.
For the first time, UVCA together with WNISEF organized the Ukrainian pavilion at CES in 2017 - little was known about Ukraine at that point. In 2018, startups who went to Las Vegas were able to sell their product or agreed on a partnership with representatives of such companies as Tesla, Lockheed Martin, Bosch, Samsung. We are sure that this year's winning startups will represent Ukraine at the highest level. We have chosen the very best and most ready for the exhibition

A total number of the projects signed up for the contest was around 60, but only 15 of them reached the final.The jury comprised of the most influential investors in the country, representatives of SMRK VC Fund (Andriy Dovzenko), Startup.Network (Oleksandr Soroka), AVentures Capital (Bogdan Sviridov), CYFRD (Yurii Filipchuk), UAngels (Nataliia Berezovska), Cornell Technical University (Charles Whitehead), Blackstone Launchpad (Felix Litvinsky) and others. As well as the representatives of the organizers of the selection: Olga Afanasyeva (UVCA), Andriy Sorokhan (Western NIS Enterprise Fund (WNISEF) and Vlad Tislenko (Concepter).

In addition to the selection for the Ukrainian pavilion during the Hardware Day, the Panel Discussion: "State of hardware startups ecosystem" with TOP investors and experts in the field of the venture business was held with Martha Proksa (Polish VC Accelerator Arkley), Andrey Dovzhenko (SMRK VC Fund), Alexander Soroka (Startup Network), Vlad Tislenko (Concepter), Olga Afanasyeva (UVCA) and Andrey Kolodyuk (AVentures Capital).
During the discussion, the participants talked through the main problems hindering the development of hardware startups, prospects and main trends on the market. The speakers shared their secrets and gave advice to startups in search of financing:
There are a lot of conversations about how difficult it is to create hardware startups. We prove the opposite. Thanks to the experience of Concepter, the support of WNISEF and the proximity to investors of UVCA, the Ukrainian pavilion at CES-2019 should be unusually powerful.
