On October 22, the Angel Investing Day organized by UVCA with the support of ESIL took place.
At the invitation of the Association, Brigitte Baumann, the founder of an investment company GoBeyond operating in France, the United Kingdom, the United States and Switzerland, European Angel Investor of the Year, with 20 years of experience in bringing new technologies to the market in the United States and Europe, visited Kyiv.
Brigitte Bauman is one of the 50 most influential women in Europe in the field of startup and venture capital. Her mission is to help improve the investment potential of European countries. That is why she is actively involved as a speaker and expert around the world and meets with government representatives, including recently - the Armenian President Armen Sarkisian. Visiting Ukraine, Mrs. Baumann met with key representatives of the Ukrainian venture capital ecosystem, where she shared her own vision of the current state of early investing in Europe and Ukraine, key elements of building an angel ecosystem, some figures regarding EU and US angel investments. In addition, Brigitte, based on her own 20+ years of experience in investing and analyzing neighboring markets, provided guidance on the development of the angel and, generally, the investment ecosystem in Ukraine.
The seminar also included two startup pitches. TechNovatorXE and effa presented their ideas and received useful feedback from the participants and, of course, Briggite Baumann.
During her visit, she also met the Ambassador of Switzerland to Ukraine and the Republic of Moldova - Claude Wilde, at a meeting organized by UVCA. During the warm reception at the Embassy, the Executive Director of UVCA Olga Afanasyeva, Mr. Ambassador and Brigitte Baumann discussed the possibilities of cooperation between the countries in the development of the investment ecosystem and potential challenges ahead.
Briggite Baumann also had a meeting with the Deputy Minister of Digital Transformation of Ukraine for IT Industry Development Oleksandr Bornyakov. The new Ministry is established just recently and has ambitious plans, in particular, on facilitating the development of entrepreneurship in Ukraine, as well as access to alternative financing. The experience of ESIL and GoBeyond could be complementary to the strategy formation.
