From the micro world of genetics to the star trek of space exploration, the genius of the Ukrainian people has contributed greatly to the accomplishments of humankind that changed the world as we know it. The artists of the design studio Direct 96 followed the trail of innovators and inventions inspired by Ukraine through time and space – from Sikorsky helicopters and Ukraine’s production of spacecraft and launch vehicles to Amosov’s and Paton’s breakthroughs in antithrombotic prostheses for cardio surgery and applying electric welding in the vast fields of medicine. The art project 50 Ukrainian Inventions Bestowed by Ukraine to the World, initiated by the Second Floor Art Center and Ukraine Crisis Media Center, represents an artistic interpretation of these and other famous innovations.

The free and multicultural nature of Ukraine continues to create a nurturing environment for a blossoming local technology sector today. Through success-stories of its startups that prove their high competitiveness in the global market of the 21st century, Ukrainian innovators show their undeniable potential and professionalism, raising the interest of foreign investors from around the world.
