Applications are now open for 2020 Ukrainian Pavilion at CES03 Sep 2019

This year UA TECH is a joint initiative of the Ukrainian Venture Capital and Private Equity Association (UVCA) and CRDF Global.

UA TECH was established four years ago to introduce the best Ukrainian Tech products to the global market. This year CRDF Global and UVCA invite experienced technology entrepreneurs to apply to the “Science & Entrepreneurship Technology Program” (STEP) training program and competition. The STEP is designed to encourage the development of new technology-based products and their commercialization in local and global markets, and is made possible through grants from the United States Department of State.

Consumer Electronics Show (CES) is the largest annual tech show in the world, taking place in Las Vegas, gathering around 200 000 visitors from all over the world at the space equivalent to 35 football fields.

The exhibition will be held on January 7-10, 2020 in Las Vegas. The 6 Ukrainian startups, selected by a team of Ukrainian and foreign experts and investors, will be presented there.

Selection

10 shortlisted projects will take part in the pitching event, 5 winners of which will get to go to Las Vegas in January 2020.

One additional winning startup for the Ukrainian pavilion will be determined by 2019 IT Arena Lviv.

Stages of selection:

  • Collection of applications
  • 10 companies preselected by the jury, will pitch in front of the audience and the jury of top investors from the USA, and Ukraine
  • The jury will choose the 5 startups to represent Ukraine and their products at CES 2020.

TO ENTER the competition, the projects must meet the following criteria:

  • develop IoT or hardware project Priority are ideas that relate to:
    • Internet of things (IoT),
    • Smart cities, homes and energy,
    • Food Design (Products Made With 3D Printer).
    • Robots and machine intelligence (AI, drone, robots),
    • Entertainment and content production (games, music, VR),
    • Transport technology,
    • Health and lifestyle,
    • Gadgets for family and home;
  • have a minimum viable prototype of the product;
  • be available for the Bootcamp (Oct. 2-3, 2019) as well as the Finale (Oct. 17, 2019);
  • have the desire and opportunity to attend the CES-2020 in the USA on January 7-10, 2020 (international passport required, and applying for a valid US visa, if you don’t have one);
  • have an English-speaking founder of the start-up and/or its representative;
  • have financial means to cover the flight, accommodation and other expenses, associated with the stay in the US during the conference;
  • have the intention to increase export earnings (income from sales abroad).

WHAT WINNERS GET

In preparing UVCA and CRDF Global took on main organizational and financial responsibilities to allow startups to focus on finishing their products, work on pitches and other materials needed for a successful trip. Selected startups are awarded:

  • Free space at CES 2020
  • Free branding of the booth
  • Organizational support
  • Mentorship and training (attendance of the Bootcamp on October 2-3, 2019 is required)
  • Extensive media coverage
